THE BAN by Dan Ogen is a near-future dystopian conspiracy thriller built around one impossible question: If this were the only way to save humanity, would you obey?
After months of trying to conceive, Adam and Abigail discover that they are finally expecting a child - just as the United Nations adopts Resolution 2050/0001.
With the climate crisis beyond the point of no return and the planet’s resources collapsing, the resolution introduces the most radical survival measure in human history: beginning January 1, 2051, no new human births will be permitted anywhere on Earth. Maternity wards are transformed into enforcement centers, and under the Ban, every pregnancy will become a crime.
As governments prepare to enforce the resolution, Adam and Abigail are trapped between their dream of becoming parents and the demand for compliance. When Abigail disappears, Adam’s search for her leads him toward questions far more dangerous than he imagined. Was the Ban really created to save humanity? What is the true purpose behind the “rehabilitation” programs - and who is actually behind them?
Drawn deeper into a conspiracy, Adam discovers that the fight for their unborn child is connected to a larger struggle over power, survival, and who gets to decide what humanity must sacrifice to endure.
Spanning continents and combining an intimate struggle for family with institutional suspense, THE BAN presents a future that remains orderly, functional, and frighteningly familiar. Its horror lies not in ruins, but in the calm language, medical procedures, and systems through which the unthinkable becomes normal.
Interview topics
